Location of implementation
Indonesia - Sumatra Island - Aceh Province - West Coast - Aceh Jaya District - Setia Bakti and Sampoinet sub districts - (Refer to annex 1 - map of sites)
Aceh Jaya District is one of the areas that has most suffered from the Tsunami. Out of 98.796 inhabitants, 81.999 are still alive, e.g. 17% of the total population has died. The coastal villages’ death rates are even worse and sometimes go beyond 80% loss of the population.
80% of the fishery infrastructures and boats/fishing equipments have been totally damaged.
The coastal shores are ravished and costal village lands have partially disappeared, combined with tectonic uplift of the continental crust of coastal shore.
