Position: Technical coordinator for water & Irrigation activities
Base : Yemen
Programme objectives :
- Develop irrigated market gardens, following the models elaborated by the previous TGH project in Socotra,
- Elaborate a system of mixed farming in agro-forestry based on the date-palm tree, following Socotri ancestral knowledge,
- Promote both ancestral and modern biological cultural techniques, allowing a good water management,
promote the diversification of food cultures in order to improve the nutrition/health condition on the island.
1. Responsibilities:
Under the leadership of the Project Manager and the Head of Mission – at the operational level – and of the Water/Hygiene/Sanitation unit – at the technical level - , the Technical Coordinator ensures the implementation of the Water and Irrigation activities on the island of Socotra, in particular:
He,
- is in charge of the identification of the needs on each site and of the technical definition of the works to carry out on the former and new community gardens,
- is responsible for the supply of equipment and manages the reception and distribution of agricultural inputs,
- supervises the technical training campaigns,
- is in charge of the supervision of the works,
- drafts regular follow-up reports to the attention of Triangle GH headquarters and participates in the writing of official reports to the attention of the donors,
- identifies and proposes actions to carry out in order to secure drinkable water supply systems to the beneficiaries in the scope of future projects.
Status, conditions & duration:
- job status according to experience.
- Monthly per diem of USD 520 + social benefits + housing in the field
- International and local transportation for work purposes
- 6 months contract renewable
