Participation in the rehabilitation of the protection infrastructures of the aquaculture farms of Sinhung and Yonggwang in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
- Funding: Programmed Food Aid (France Cooperation)
- Global budget: €100, 000
- Duration: 9 months (October 2011 - June 2012)
This program completes the previous one called « Improving the consumption of milk and dairy products in children institutions ». It intends to improve milk production in the farms supplying children institutions, the aim being in fine to increase the children’s daily nutritional intake.
Production improvement is planned via material, organizational and technical support. This 3 years project started at the end of 2010, and the first results are expected in 2012, the time necessary for the various implemented improvement processes to be effective. Besides, this project does not fully respond to the food insecurity observed in these institutions. It will on the one hand provide immediate food aid to the institutions (for times of food insecurity), and on the other hand increase the impact of activities planned during the initial program. It will also contribute to improving the various steps in milk processing in dairy farms.
The main objective is thus to secure the food situation in social institutions for children (districts of Sariwon and Daeane), while improving the milk and dairy products production chain supplying them.
More specifically, the action focuses on the following achievements:
- Rapid supply of food aid – before the winter 2011.
- Improve the equipment of the canteens in the institutions.
- Improve the different steps in milk processing in dairy farms (preservation, packaging…)
- Monitor and improve nutritional practices in the institutions (Korean and international expertise)
