Since 2001 TGH has been implementing projects in Sahrawi refugee camps. The Sahrawi refugees live in 5 camps in the Tindouf Region. They almost exclusively rely on humanitarian assistance because economic opportunities are scarce, especially due to the isolation of the area and the extremely unfavourable environmental conditions. Living conditions are particularly difficult in this landlocked desert region where temperatures are often above 50°C in the summer. In order to develop local sources of nutritional intake, TGH has set up and developed a fish farm. Tilapia have been growing in this fish farm for several weeks. The first fishing was carried out in February/March.

This project aims in particular to develop the storage capacity of the fish production, which is essential for the development of the activity and the distribution of foodstuffs. In addition to this material aspect, a "sector" study must be carried out in order to specify the distribution channels for future production.
