The Ouaka prefecture is one of the most affected by population movements since Bambari is a fixation point for the flows of displaced populations generated by the regular clashes between the armed groups on the area. The town of Bambari gathers 19,215 people (February 2020) spread over its six sites and among host families. Today some few are starting. Reduced access to water and sanitation structures prevents these populations from adopting the barrier gestures and adapting their hygiene habits in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Faced with the identified needs, Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) contributes to improve access to safe drinking water in sufficient quantity, as well as satisfactory sanitary and hygiene conditions for the displaced people. To this end, TGH is coordinating the rehabilitation of 10 water points and the training and revitalization of the Water Point Committees Management. TGH also guarantees the monitoring of water quality of the water points on the sites. Regular bacteriological analyses are organized by TGH technical staff on the entire water supply system.  In terms of sanitation, TGH is rehabilitating and maintaining emergency sanitation areas in Bambari and Ngakobo IDPs sites. In the context of the COVID-19 epidemic, TGH is also in charge of setting up hygiene promotion and awareness sessions on the virus among the host and displaced population. These are carried out by community relays that have been trained upstream. At the end of the training, the neighborhoods are equipped with specific tools and equipment to raise awareness on COVID-19 prevention measures. Handwashing kits are also distributed at displaced sites and around water points.
