Present since 2005 in Central Darfur, TGH is involved in the Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Items (ES/NFI) cluster and recognised as an important partner in that field in the area.
In July 2021, clashes erupted in Central Darfur, especially in Sortony, which caused an important amount of displacement from there to the Sabanga, Aja and Boulay villages. A total of 616 IDPs households have been identified as living there in August 2021.
The ES and NFI needs are the most urgent, as people lost their belongings during the displacement. While all IDPs are in dire need and are considered as vulnerable, women and girls, as well as persons with disabilities in displacement, are considered as more vulnerable according to UNHCR criteria.

The TGH project is thus focusing on providing the most vulnerable IDPs, newly arrived in the Aja and Sabanga villages, with basic-needs items, such as NFI kits (composed of blankets, jerrycans, kitchen sets, plastic mats, plastic buckets, handwashing soap and plastic sheeting) and dignity kits (for women and teenage girls, composed of traditional clothes, underwear, reusable dark clothes, handwashing soaps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, solar flashlights and reusable sanitary pads).
The programme is implemented with respect to the WHO recommendations concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.
