Following the outbreak of war in Ukraine, TGH mobilised its teams in the field and at headquarters to maintain its existing activities and develop an emergency response to meet the most immediate needs of the affected populations. To this end, TGH, in partnership with UNICEF, launched a vast programme of unconditional monetary assistance to households on March 31st so that they can cover their children's primary needs (including food).
Through the unconditional cash transfer modality, beneficiaries can meet the needs they have prioritised themselves.
While humanitarian needs are nationwide, TGH and UNICEF prioritise households in areas with the highest number of displaced and affected people, in order to target the most vulnerable families with children. Targeted households are selected through an online registration platform to reach the most isolated families, based on vulnerability criteria. Households receive cash assistance through bank transfers to their individual accounts. For those who do not have a bank account, the sum is paid directly in cash via a local partner.
Prior to each transfer, TGH informs the beneficiaries of the scheduled date of payment and of the withdrawal points and accompanies families who encounter problems with their bank accounts or difficulties in accessing the withdrawal points.
