It is with great sadness that Triangle Génération Humanitaire announces the death of its co-founder, Patrick Verbruggen, after a long illness which he faced with his characteristic elegance. Christian Lombard, co-founder, head office staff, expatriate staff, local staff and members of the Board of Directors are today united in paying tribute to a man and friend who has been committed to humanitarian action for almost 40 years.
A man of conviction and experience, but also a man of humour, Patrick knew how to unite teams and share his incredible enthusiasm, which has enabled TGH to play a growing role in helping populations in need over the last 30 years.
Thank you, Patrick, for your unwavering and inspiring commitment to the end.

Post-earthquake emergency response
A magnitude 6.4M earthquake followed by several major aftershocks struck Jajarkot, Rukum West and five other districts of Karnali province in Nepal on 3 November 2023 at 11.47pm, killing 153 people and injuring 364 others.
In coordination with the Jajarkot district administration office and DPNet Nepal, TGH has supported transport to ensure efficient and rapid delivery of relief materials, stored in the district headquarters, to the various rural municipalities.
Five trips were made between 6 and 7 December 2023 to deliver the equipment to 5 municipalities (Barekot, Tribeni Nalagad, Kushe, Bheri, Chhedagad). These operations were carried out with the support of the Agence Française de Développement and the Fondation de France.
Raising hygiene awareness among schoolchildren
In the Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria, TGH runs campaigns on personal hygiene for children. In collaboration with the Direction Nationale de l'Equipement and the Sahrawi Ministry of Education, an educational visit was recently organised.
Thirty pupils from the Souilem Ahmed primary school in Boujdour visited the soap and bleach workshops set up by TGH. During the visit, they were told about the production process, the origin of the raw materials, the characteristics of the products and the various machines used.
The visit ended at the Souilem Ahmed school, where a lunch was organised with the schoolchildren, who were all given a hygiene kit.
Supporting quality education
Discover on video the educational activities organised by our teams in the rural areas of Damascus. On the field, TGH carries out various activities in schools:
● Teacher training in teaching and educational methods.
● A "Back to School" campaign.
● Non-formal education activities for 1,217 children to help them (re-)join the formal education system, complemented by psychosocial support sessions.
● Follow-up of the most vulnerable children through referrals to specialised services.
● Distribution of educational kits to schools and teachers, as well as hygiene products for children, complemented by hygiene promotion sessions.
Emergency response to the crisis
Against the backdrop of an armed conflict that has been going on since April 2023, TGH teams have provided an emergency response to meet the needs of the people affected. In the town of Geneina, TGH provided drinking water tanks.
This type of intervention, known as water trucking, allows TGH to respond quickly to the urgent needs of the population in terms of access to water. Before distribution, our teams ensure that the water is of good quality and safe to drink.
