In April 2021, Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) launched this 6-month project financed by the IOM and USAID to respond to the most urgent needs of the IDPs affected by the conflict that occurred in January 2021 in Geneina and Kreinik localities.
Through this project, TGH provides hygiene kits to IDPs households to improve their hygiene conditions. TGH also provides dignity kits to women and girls so as for them to meet their hygienic needs, reduce their vulnerability and limit the risks of SGBV and sexual harassment.
To provide clean water to conflict-affected IDPs, TGH is implementing several activities: the rehabilitation of hand pumps, the distribution of household water treatment chemicals to ensure that IDPs communities can treat surfaces water collected, the installation of water storage tanks for water trucking, and the monitoring of water quality at the water points and at the household level.
TGH also has constructed emergency sanitary facilities such as household latrines and hand washing facilities in communal set ups. In order to improve hygiene knowledge and practices and operate a massive hygiene behaviour change within the communities inside gathering points of IDPs, TGH has implemented hygiene promotion and education activities. Those activities are organised by action by taking into account the modalities of the health context related to COVID-19 (respect for the measures in place, limit on the people gathering, etc.).
By providing emergency lifesaving WASH services, TGH wants to mitigate and reduce health hazards and protection risks for the IDPs.
