Teachers, key players in strengthening education
International Education Day today celebrates the theme of “Learning for Sustainable Peace” and is an opportunity to recognise the essential role of teachers in strengthening access to safe, inclusive and quality education for all children.
A wide range of training to meet needs
In Syria, where 7.2 million children need educational support, TGH supports non-formal education teachers in 21 schools through training, monitoring and adequate remuneration.
The training offers teachers advice and guidance on a range of subjects:
- Use of interactive and participative teaching methods and child-friendly classroom management;
- Basic knowledge and skills to respond to the psychosocial needs of children affected by the crisis ;
- Enabling all children to express the trauma they have experienced;
- Good practices to be applied within the school in the event of a disaster.
