TGH airfreights equipment to Vakaga

The rainy season presented an additional challenge: flooding made the roads impassable, making overland supplies impossible.

As part of its operations, TGH mobilised the Logistics Cluster and, with the support of the WFP, transported the materials needed to build the water towers on the Korsi site.

In addition, other water , hygiene and sanitation equipment essential for completing the activities of the ‘𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒗𝒖𝒍𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒑𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑽𝒂𝒌𝒂𝒈𝒂 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆’ funded by ECHO and the project ‘𝑬𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑾𝑨𝑺𝑯 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑽𝒂𝒌𝒂𝒈𝒂 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆’ funded by UNICEF were also transported.

These materials, which were difficult to find locally in Birao, or were sometimes too expensive or of insufficient quality, required rigorous logistical planning. Thanks to collaboration with other international NGOs, TGH and other INGOs organised air freight to meet these supply needs, thus responding to the growing need for access to water at the Korsi site.
