Our history
Since May 13, 1994, Triangle Génération Humanitaire has been providing multi-sectoral expertise to meet the long-term needs of affected populations around the world.

TRIANGLE GÉNÉRATION HUMANITAIRE (TGH) is an international solidarity association founded in 1994 by Christian Lombard and Patrick Verbruggen. Together they managed the association until 2024.
The aim is to provide aid and assistance to people affected by conflicts, natural disasters or any other type of situation that leaves them in a precarious position.
In July 1994, TGH was in Rwanda, where the UN-mandated Independent Commission of Inquiry estimated that around 800,000 Rwandans, mostly Tutsis, lost their lives between April and July 1994. This moment in history, included in the list of genocides of the twentieth century, was to be one of the key events in the life of the association. TGH’s first actions focused on the promotion and psychosocial well-being of children, deeply affected by the mass crimes they had witnessed. A few months later, despite the success of its programmes, TGH had to leave the country, expelled by the Rwandan government along with dozens of other NGOs.

Following this, TGH continued its work in Iraqi Kurdistan during the war between the two major Kurdish parties, then in Albania, Kosovo and Serbia during the Yugoslav wars, in North Korea, where TGH was one of the very first NGOs to assess the humanitarian situation in 1998, in Honduras after Hurricane Mitch in 1999, in Algeria in support of the Sahrawi refugees in the Tindouf region, in Vietnam, where TGH set up a hotel school for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, in Indonesia following the 2004 Tsunami, in Timor Leste with a drinking water access programme, in Laos with the development of irrigation infrastructure, in the Philippines after Typhoon Yolanda, where TGH worked to revive fishing cooperatives, in Burkina Faso with a social integration programme for young people, in the Republic of Congo with street children, etc.
On 13 May 2024, TGH marked its thirtieth anniversary and is continuing its work in 13 countries with more than 50 programmes running simultaneously.
