Our institutional policies

Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) has adopted a set of institutional policies to provide a clear framework for its humanitarian interventions worldwide, in line with its mandate and values. These policies apply to all TGH staff and members worldwide. Additionally, they include provisions and rules that apply to other stakeholders in our projects, including partners (public, private and non-profit), service providers, and goods suppliers.

Our history

Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) was founded on 13 May 1994 by Christian Lombard and Patrick Verbruggen, who served together as the association’s executive directors until 2024. The organisation was born out of a desire to develop cross-disciplinary and sustainable expertise.

In July 1994, TGH deployed to Rwanda to support victims of the genocide. This event marks one of the key milestones in the association’s history.

In 1996, TGH launched its first initiatives in Iraqi Kurdistan, providing assistance to victims of the civil war. Two years later, in 1998, the NGO expanded its operations to Albania and Yemen to support Somali refugees. Then, in 1999, TGH began implementing projects in Kosovo and Honduras.

TGH established itself in Serbia and North Korea in 2000. The following year, in 2001, it opened an office in Algeria to provide assistance to Sahrawi refugees in the Tindouf region. From 2002 onwards, TGH ran a hotel school project in Vietnam.

In 2004, TGH returned to Iraq and launched its mission in Sudan. The following year, the NGO mobilised in South-East Asia, East Timor and Indonesia in the wake of the tsunami. During this period, TGH also established a new mission in Laos.

TGH developed new projects in Burkina Faso in 2006 before going to the Central African Republic. Following Cyclone Nargis in 2007, projects were launched in Myanmar. In 2011, the association began operating in the Republic of Congo. From 2013 onwards, TGH returned to Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan. The NGO also participated in the humanitarian response following the 2014 tsunami that devastated the Philippines.

In 2015, our TGH teams were deployed to Nepal following a violent earthquake and to the Donbass region of Ukraine. In 2018, the association launched projects in Syria. More recently still, in 2023, TGH opened offices in Chad and Pakistan. Finally, in 2024, TGH committed to developing new projects in Ethiopia.

Each step of this journey is a testament to our ongoing commitment to improving the daily lives of vulnerable communities and building a fairer future.
