Winter Support for Vulnerable Families in Eastern Ukraine

The war in Ukraine is still ongoing after four years of conflict.

Since 2014, the conflict in Ukraine has caused thousands of deaths, destroyed homes and infrastructure, and displaced over a million people. The war in 2022 worsened the crisis, disrupting essential services such as water, energy and heating.

Between October 2025 and January 2026, Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH), together with local partners The Tenth of April (TTA) and Posmishka, provided solid fuel assistance to 356 households (763 people) across Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv oblasts. This collaboration reflects TGH’s commitment to working with local and national NGOs as a core pillar of its humanitarian vision.

Among those supported were 66 persons with disabilities and 240 internally displaced persons. Households received fuel briquettes and firewood, delivered directly to their homes to help them stay warm in areas without centralized gas networks.

Targeting was done in coordination with local authorities and the Shelter Cluster, prioritizing those most vulnerable: elderly people living alone, households with people with disabilities, families caring for children due to war, and large families.

For many conflict-affected households, access to solid fuel is a lifeline as attacks on energy infrastructure and limited coping capacity continue to threaten communities. This aid enables families to heat their homes safely, reduces some protection risks, and preserve their health and dignity during the winter.

This activity was made possible with support from the Crisis Centre of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (CDCS), as part of a project to strengthen winter resilience and access to basic services for vulnerable populations in Eastern Ukraine.
