This May 13, 2026, Triangle Génération Humanitaire turns 32. This anniversary provides an opportunity to honour those who have shaped our history. Today, we pay special tribute to Monique Montel, an iconic figure and one of our association’s founding members.
Monique Montel passed away one December night, aged 86. A qualified special needs teacher and a member of our association from the very beginning, she initiated TGH’s first protection projects in Kosovo, Yemen, Timor, the Central African Republic and, above all, in the Sahrawi refugee camps, which she regularly visited.
Throughout her life, Monique was dedicated to helping others. In the 1980s, she opened a shelter for disadvantaged children at her home in the Cévennes. She spent several years with the humanitarian organisation EquiLibre, including two years working in orphanages in Romania, before joining Christian and Patrick when they left EquiLibre to found TGH.
As a member of the organisation’s Board of Directors, she remained by our side until the very end. We still feel the resonance of her enthusiasm, joy and laughter.
