Women Farmers celebrate World Environment Day in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan

A community-led initiative empowering women to build climate resilience and protect natural resources.

To mark World Environment Day 2026, the Agribusiness Support Fund (ASF) and Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) organized a climate awareness campaign in Chikas village, Danyor (Gilgit District), bringing together 21 women farmers from the She Grow Women Agribusiness Society.

The campaign focused on promoting climate-smart agriculture and strengthening the resilience of rural communities. Through interactive discussions, participants explored the impacts of climate change on farming, developed key awareness messages, and pledged to adopt sustainable practices such as water conservation, waste reduction, and environmentally responsible farming methods.

As part of the initiative, the women also carried out a community clean-up activity, clearing irrigation channels and public spaces to help protect local agricultural resources and improve environmental conditions.

The campaign was implemented under the GROW-Pak project, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and delivered by TGH in partnership with ASF. The project aims to advance women’s economic empowerment and build climate resilience across the Gilgit-Baltistan region.
