Agroecology and climate resilience in Nepal

TGH et ses partenaires forment 114 leaders agricoles au Népal pour promouvoir une agriculture durable et résiliente.

In Nepal, Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH), in consortium with Médecins du Monde and in close collaboration with its local partner Farmers for Rural Development (FRDEV), is placing sustainable agriculture at the heart of its efforts to revive the rural economy.

As part of this initiative, TGH relies on a network of 114 male and female farmer leaders, trained in sustainable farming practices. These leaders are both direct beneficiaries and community volunteers, committed to improving agricultural practices within their communities and on their own farms.

Through the establishment of model farms, these leaders apply and demonstrate the effectiveness of farming methods free from chemical inputs. Farmers are also made aware of the risks associated with chemical use and trained in healthier, more effective, and more sustainable alternatives. Each leader supervises a group of around ten farmers, ensuring the concrete dissemination of sustainable practices across rural areas.

The goal of this initiative is twofold. On one hand, it aims to promote farming practices that respect the environment and human health, and on the other hand, it aims to strengthen the resilience of production systems in the face of climate change. The project directly benefits 1,086 members of agricultural cooperatives, including 738 women farmers.
