Programme details
The humanitarian crisis in Yemen remains among the most severe globally, driven by ongoing conflict, widespread displacement, and extreme malnutrition exacerbated by deteriorating health and water, hygiene, and sanitation (WASH) infrastructure. Cholera outbreaks, food insecurity affecting 49% of the population according to the 2025 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (among them, 22% women, 55% children, and 15% persons with disabilities), and lack of safe water worsen the crisis. Over 15.2 million people lack essential WASH services (HNRP 2025), while limited health infrastructure and climate vulnerability increase the risk of waterborne diseases.
In 2025, an estimated 19.5 million people across Yemen needed humanitarian assistance and protection services, which is 1.3 million more than the year before (HNRP 2025).
The project is based on a long-term vision of the nexus between emergency, rehabilitation, and development. By coordinating their activities, Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) and Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) are responding to urgent WASH, health, and nutrition needs while laying the groundwork for longer-term resilience and recovery in the target communities. Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) is digging new wells to provide immediate access to safe drinking water and rehabilitating water systems and toilets in schools.
The expected outcome is a reduction in the risk of waterborne diseases and improved access to school for girls. For its part, Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is expanding nutrition programmes in hard-to-reach areas and supporting Therapeutic Feeding Centres to improve access to vital care for young children and pregnant or breastfeeding women. On a larger scale, this project could indirectly impact more than 700,000 people.
