In an uncertain environment, targeted support is needed to remove barriers to children’s education and well-being.
In Iraq, many families struggle to access #protection and educational services due to internal displacement. Consequently, many children face significant barriers to #education, which jeopardises their future and overall well-being.
To address this issue, TGH has been working in Iraq since October to help children return to education. Our team has carried out a number of distributions to children and their families to facilitate this process.
- → A total of 𝟐𝟒𝟗 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐬 have been given out to children attending remedial and catch-up classes, providing them with the necessary resources to engage with their studies and succeed.
- → 𝟓𝟔 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧have been successfully re-enrolled in formal schools, taking an important step towards a brighter future.
Last December, TGH’s Case Management team continued to provide critical support to vulnerable children, helping them to overcome barriers to safety, education, and well-being. Through targeted cash assistance, 15 disabled children and their families were given the means to obtain mobility aids, such as wheelchairs. This has enabled them to participate fully in school and daily life.

Our team also addressed a range of other #protection concerns, including cases related to legal documentation, child protection risks, school attendance, and mental health support.
By assessing each case, conducting follow-ups and developing bespoke support plans, TGH ensures that children and their families receive the assistance they need to stay safe, access vital services and build a better future.
These activities have been made possible through the valued partnership and support of the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) programme.
