To provide food assistance to children from vulnerable households in the Birao area and at the Korsi Sudanese refugee camp, TGH has set up school canteens and is establishing school gardens.
These measures have had a tangible revitalising effect on the local education system and have generated numerous positive outcomes, which we outline below!
- A 19% increase in school attendance
- 1,670 pupils and school staff raised awareness of healthy eating habits
- The Central African Republic’s education inspectorate is taking action to allocate teachers
- Parental involvement in their children’s education
These initiatives are being implemented with the support of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the French Embassy in the Central African Republic through the French Initiative for Food Security and Nutrition (IFSAN).
