Rocket attack with disastrous consequences
On 29 December, a rocket attack in the town of Smila (Cherkasy region) damaged more than 100 residential buildings. Eight of them were completely destroyed. The windows, doors, roofs, fences and walls of the other buildings were badly damaged. Among the households affected were two families of displaced persons from the Donetsk and Kherson regions.
A rapid response from the Triangle Génération Humanitaire team to meet the needs of the affected households.
The Triangle Génération Humanitaire team in Cherkasy then contacted Smila town council through the town’s Social Services Centre. A discussion with the council’s coordinator provided an overview of the situation and needs.
After a further discussion with the head of the rapid response centre and a visit to the site of the attack, Triangle Génération Humanitaire’s basic needs team in Cherkasy went to meet representatives of the families of the affected households and provided hygiene kits to 91 households, i.e. 212 people.
These activities are part of the humanitarian response of the Dorijka Consortium supported by USAID.
