A refrigeration solution for farmers in Iraq

Chambre froide solaire autonome Airsolar Solutions, installée par TGH et Airwell dans le gouvernorat de Ninive

In Iraq, the storage and preservation of agricultural crops in isolated areas is a major challenge to ensure the activity of farmers and access to food products for local populations.

Last March in Nineveh Governorate, TGH and its partner Airwell deployed an AirSolar Solutions Autonomous Solar Cold Room. Powered entirely by solar energy, this innovative installation, also called SolarFrost, helps farmers refrigerate their fruits and vegetables without relying on the electricity grid.

The refrigeration system is accompanied by a “Pay as You Store” solution, which allows farmers to rent storage spaces according to their needs. To facilitate accessibility and use of the system, TGH has provided training to the farmers involved in the use of a dedicated application, allowing them to remotely manage their stored crops.

The demonstrator was installed as part of the FASEPSustainable Agriculture and Food” project in Iraq, supported by the French General Directorate of the Treasury, with the support of the Economic Service of the French Embassy in Baghdad and the French Consulate in Mosul.

This multi-stakeholder project in Iraq provides vital support to the region and helps limit post-harvest losses as well as increase production and distribution volumes of agricultural commodities.
