On 27 and 28 September, heavy and continuous rainfall had devastating effects in Nepal, particularly in the Kavre district of Bagmati province, where TGH is active.
The floods and landslides have caused widespread destruction, with 67 confirmed deaths, 39 people missing and more than 130 injured in the Kavre district alone. The floods and landslides have disrupted transport, agriculture and livelihoods, posing significant risks to public safety.
In response to the urgent needs requested by the Kavre Health and Rapid Response Group, TGH provided support to the affected communities. On 6 and 8 October 2024, TGH distributed :
- 200 mosquito nets at the Kavre public health office,
- 100 mosquito nets to the municipality of Dhulikhel,
- 20 solar lamps to the rural municipality of Rosi,
- 5 solar lamps to the rural municipality of Chaunrideurali.
This support is part of the sustainable food value chain project run in partnership with our local partner Farmers for Rural Development (FRDEV) and Médecins du Monde, with the support of AFD and the Fondation De France.
