In the Milé Extension and Koursigué camps, TGH established two Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) to provide 300 forcibly displaced children with access to a safe, protective and child-friendly learning environment. To support their access to education and help them remain in school, each child received a school kit including a backpack, exercise books, a pencil case, pens and rulers.
In a province where classrooms are overcrowded and teaching resources are limited, six teachers completed a 14-day training course on teaching techniques and pedagogical methods. Following the training, TGH provided teaching staff with educational and teaching materials, as well as 247 textbooks and 17 teachers’ guides.
TGH also supports 200 children from the host community, aged 5 to 17, through structured psychosocial support sessions. Two Child-Friendly Spaces (CFSs) provide them with a safe environment where they can express themselves freely, be listened to and strengthen their well-being. When specific needs are identified, case workers refer children to specialised services to ensure they receive appropriate support.
Finally, community-based child protection mechanisms were strengthened through the establishment and training of two Child Protection Community Networks (RECOPE) to identify protection risks and raise awareness among host communities.
