Programme details
This project builds on a previous initiative led by Triangle Génération Humanitaire and Terre des Hommes Italy. That initiative aimed to strengthen the resilience of displaced children who had returned to the Ninewa Governorate. Building on the work accomplished so far, this new project aims to increase the assistance provided in order to significantly reduce, or even completely eliminate, the number of children still exposed to violence and social marginalisation.

It therefore seeks to support internally displaced children and adults living in informal camps in Mosul, Sinjar (Shardashti), Shirqat and Qaraj, who still require legal assistance, protection and educational services. The total budget for the project is €1,928,344.37, of which €365,000 is dedicated to actions implemented by TGH.
The project has three main objectives:
- To obtain civil status documents for internally displaced children and adults in complex legal situations;
- To provide adequate assistance to internally displaced children at serious risk in terms of protection;
- The third objective is to facilitate access to quality education for internally displaced children who are not in school.
The first two components, namely legal assistance and child protection services, also contribute significantly to achieving the third objective. As part of this intervention, out-of-school children receive non-formal education services, as well as essential legal and psychosocial support, to help them enrol in and remain in school.
To achieve these results, TDH and TGH are setting up at least five Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) in the target areas. These spaces will also serve as community centres, providing legal and protection services. The two national partners are also deploying teams of experienced and qualified technical staff in the field.
