Programme details

This project aims to improve the living conditions of 10,500 vulnerable people, including refugee and displaced families as well as local communities, in the N’Guerendomo neighbourhood of Birao, in Matala, and along the Matala–Am Dafock and Birao–Vodomassa axes in the Central African Republic.

The project addresses two essential needs: improving nutrition and establishing sustainable livelihoods, while ensuring access to safe drinking water and proper hygiene conditions.

To enhance food security, TGH will provide emergency food assistance during the lean season, support school canteens and their gardens in four schools, and assist families with vegetable farming and small revenue-generating activities. The project will also facilitate access to land for refugees and displaced people, while promoting improved dietary and agricultural practices.

Regarding water and sanitation, TGH will construct two new water points in Matala and upgrade an existing facility in N’Guerendomo into a solar-powered water system. Washing areas will be installed, and hygiene kits will be distributed to the most vulnerable families. Local committees will also be trained to ensure the long-term maintenance of the facilities.
