Programme details

The project provides vital humanitarian assistance to refugee populations affected by the Sudanese crisis, targeting 30,000 refugees (7,800 women; 9,000 girls; 4,200 men; and 9,000 boys). This intervention promotes the skills of national actors, their community presence, and their in-depth knowledge of the local context.

The intervention focuses on two aspects:

  1. Drinking water supply:

An emergency water supply via water trucking is established for 4 months to provide water to priority areas of the site. At the same time, the project develops a sustainable solution (conducting hydrogeological studies; rehabilitating and/or constructing boreholes, etc.).

  1. Improving hygiene and sanitation

Construction of household latrines with showers; establishment of hygiene and sanitation committees to ensure infrastructure maintenance and promote the adoption of good practices; distribution of hygiene kits.

Community-based exercises are also organized with local communities to identify protection risks linked to insufficient access to water and sanitation (e.g., gender-based violence during water collection, exposure to diseases, etc.).

This activity ensures the involvement of various opinion leaders living both on-site and off-site in participatory assessments, in the implementation of the activity, and through the sharing of opinions on how the activity is being implemented.
