Programme details
This joint intervention with our partner SAHARI follows on from the Darfood project and aims to consolidate the impact of the action carried out in the localities of Forobaranga (West Darfur) and Tawila (North Darfur), while scaling up the response to address the high humanitarian needs in the Tawila and Golo (Central Darfur) regions.
The project thus aims to sustainably improve the food and nutritional security of 2,160 households by addressing the immediate needs of the population while strengthening their long-term self-reliance. To achieve this, the project is structured around a combination of direct food assistance through cash or food voucher distributions, on the one hand, and technical support in agriculture and livestock rearing, as well as support for micro-entrepreneurship development, on the other.
The intervention primarily targets the most vulnerable groups: pregnant and lactating women (PLW) and families with children aged 0 to 23 months, recognising the crucial role women play in household nutrition and the importance of the first 1,000 days in child development. Particular attention is given to female-headed households, which make up a significant proportion of the population and whose empowerment is key to overall household food security.
